Jr. All-American Football: Clinic Division
The Fountain Valley Black Jaguars earned their second consecutive
shutout last Saturday by beating the Orange East Chiefs, 18-0, in Jr.
All-American Football Clinic Division play.
The Jaguar defense proved to be too tough for Orange, which as limited to
just 22 yards of total offense.
Nick McIsaac powered the Jaguar defense with a pair of interceptions and
eight tackles. Matt Empting, Jose Navarro, Nathan Feiler, Jacob Gale, and
Steven Bennett also played solid defense.
Bennett also had two quarterback sacks for a Jaguar defense that has
allowed just six points in their last three games, and a 12 points per
game average for the season.
Rick Rea, who scored on touchdown runs covering 20 and 31 yards, led
Fountain Valley’s offense.
Nick Sosa also scored on a 12-yard run to cap the scoring.
Rea and Sosa ran the ball behind an offensive line consisting of Daniel
Pokorski, Stefan Robb, Justice Tausaga, Ian Gipson, and Mike Delicce.
The Black Jaguars, who evened their record at 4-4, finish their 1999
season Saturday by hosting the Mission Viejo Cowboys in a 9 a.m. kickoff
at Fountain Valley High.

Corona 25, Fountain Valley 18
Danny Dion scored on a 60-yard kickoff return and also added a 30-yard
touchdown run and Steven Santana rambled 45 yards for another score to
lead the Jaguars.
Andy Palacios and Loren Robb paced the Jaguar defense.
CLINIC CHEER SQUAD PLACES SECOND
The Fountain Valley Clinic cheer squad placed second last Sunday at the
1999 Jr. All-American Cheer competition.
Cheerleaders from 24 cities competed at Cerritos College, and Fountain
Valley’s second-place finish earned the squad a berth at the 1999 JAM2
Competition, which is scheduled for Nov. 14 at Magic Mountain Amusement
Park.
The Fountain Valley Clinic cheer squad, consisting of girls ages
8-10, is comprised of Vanessa Beyers, Hilary Chace, Amber Coleman, Emily
Delicce, Amanda Empting, Merisa Gallegos, Lindsay James, Melissa La
Plante, Rachel McMillen, Kelley O’Toole, Jessica Pokorski, and Rachel
Sutton.
