Beach Wilson, 7-6, to win the Northern California high school water polo
tournament.
Brian Slingsby wins the individual race and leads CdM’s boys cross

a touchdown and Dan Ucker runs one in as the Eagles score all their
points in the first quarter.
Newport Harbor’s football team helps out Estancia by defeating
Saddleback, 27-17, to clinch the league title for the Eagles. It also
clinches a CIF playoff spot for the Sailors. Steve Scheck passes for two
touchdowns and Josh Klein kicks two field goals in the game.
Brian Lucas rushes for a school record 235 yards as Corona del Mar’s
football team defeat University, 25-8.
CdM’s girls cross country team captures its first title in 10 years by
winning the Sea View League meet. Kirsten McFarland finishes third to
lead the Sea Kings.

Sea View League crown. Kenton Reed scores the winning goal in overtime.

Orange Coast College’s mens water polo team concludes an undefeated
Orange Empire Conference season with an 18-7 win over Saddleback. Mike
Kennedy scores four goals to lead the Pirates.
CdM’s girls tennis team defeats Estancia, 14-4, behind Keri Phebus’
sweep. Dina Birch wins two sets for the Eagles.
CdM’s girls volleyball team also wins against Estancia for its third
sweep of the week. Marni Jo Price gets 10 digs and four aces in the
match.
Estancia’s girls volleyball team also lose to Newport Harbor, 15-4,
12-15, 15-3, 15-9. Marilee Pfister gets 50 assists and Maureen McLaren 23
kills for the Sailors.
