IRVINE - The Corona del Mar High boys and girls cross country teams

completed unbeaten Pacific Coast League dual-meet seasons by topping

University, as well as Costa Mesa, in a double dual meet Tuesday at Mason

Park.

Travis Beardslee won the boys race in 15:12, finishing ahead of CdM

teammate Josh Yelsey (15:34). Sea Kings Jud Heitbrink (fourth in 16:27)

and Blake Dillion (16:31) also cracked the top five as Coach Bill

Sumner’s squad placed seven boys in the top 10.

CdM defeated Uni, 19-42 and topped Mesa, 15-50.

Katie Quinlan finished second in the girls race (17:57), Liz Morse was

third (18:01) and Jenny Cummins fourth (18:03) to pace CdM, which topped

Uni, 22-36, and Mesa, 15-50.

“Uni didn’t run poorly, but we’re just hotter than pancakes right now,”

said Sumner, who will attempt to finish off the boys and girls first PCL
