NMJAAF: Midget Seahawks roll
NEWPORT BEACH - The Newport-Mesa Junior All-American Football
Midget Seahawks defeated the Fountain Valley Jaguars, 34-16 over the
weekend.
Matt Encinias scored two touchdowns to lead the Seahawks’ offense,
while Brian Campos, Jun Azurin also added TD runs of their own.
Jonathan McClain, along with assistance from Tim McCullough, Michael
Puentes, Bo Burgess, Sylvester Langrine, Chris Channing, Luis Gonzalez
and Travis Winrow, managed to stop the Jaguars’ offense cold.
R.J. Martin, Brian Wase, Joevany Cueva, Chris Wade, and Omar Ruiz also
added to the Seahawks’ offensive support.
In other NMJAAF action:
Pee Wee Seahawks 6, Corona Cowboys 0 - Ben Maggard had two
interceptions to lead the Seahawks’ defense to its fourth shutout of the
season.
Other defense help came from Ricky Sepulveda, Ryan Breslin, Patrick
Williams, Anthony Santos, Brent Ogden, Tyler Ellis, David Del Fante,
Chase Whitaker and Kevin Alison.
On offense, Marc Quarles scored on a 40-yard touchdown run after the
offensive line of Eric Ray, David Yi, Bijan Ahmadi, Phillip DiGiacomo and
Nathan Stoneman opened up the hole for the score.
Quarterback Ryan Lance connected on several passes to Matt Silva for
the Seahawks.
Irvine Chargers 20, Junior Pee Wee Seahawks 6 - Running back Matt Loyd
scored the Seahawks’ lone touchdown of the game on a long first-half run.
P.J. Banning and Mike Orozco also led the running attack, with help
from Ryan Dupule, Cavan McCarthy, Brian Lawler, Bryce Jardine, Taylor
Schaffel and Alex Buffalini.
On the defensive side of the ball, Tony Jones, David Root, Jack
Turner, John Gothard, Noor Niam, Richard Sorenson, Chaz Vickery, Nick
Armendariz, Scott Andrews, Ryan Telles and Matt Hauser all played well.
