Project Cuddle founder Debbe Magnusen and OCC professor Karen Mortillaro

have been nominated for an American Red Cross award.

Mayor Gary Monahan nominated the Costa Mesa women for the seventh annual

Clara Barton Spectrum Awards for Outstanding Women in Orange County.

Magnusen and Mortillaro will be honored along with other nominees at a

luncheon today in Irvine with featured speaker Cathy Rigby.

Project Cuddle established the first national toll-free hotline for women

who are considering abandoning their babies.

Mortillaro teaches an OCC class in which students design furniture or

works of art for the developmentally disabled at Fairview Developmental

Center.

Winners of the Clara Barton award will be announced at the luncheon.
