The Huntington Beach Jr. Pee Wee Division Dolphins moved another

step closer to securing a berth in the upcoming playoffs by scoring a

20-0 victory over the visiting Fountain Valley Teal Jaguars in Jr.

All-American Football action at Ocean View High.

With Fountain Valley using a successful ball control offense from

the start, the Dolphins overcame a slow start by taking advantage of a

muffed punt to post their first score. Logan Martina broke open the game

by shedding five would-be tacklers en route to a 78-yard touchdown run,

and Brian Shrock added the extra point to put Huntington Beach up, 7-0,

at the half.

The Dolphins’ struggles continued in the third quarter but behind

the punishing running of fullbacks Willie Fiscus III and Justin Dawson,

Huntington Beach forged ahead, 14-0 on a three-yard scoring run by

Martina.

Fiscus finished the day with 50 yards rushing on eight carries,

and Dawson ran for 17 more on three attempts.

In the fourth quarter, the Dolphins keyed on the running of

Ceseare Nieto (five carries, 58 yards) to put together their final

scoring drive. Nieto took the scoring honors himself, going in from

11-yards out for a 20-0 lead.

Huntington Beach finished the day with 285 yards rushing and was

led by Martina, who gained 162 on 15 carries.

The Dolphin defense was equally as impressive as Trevor Engel

stopped a late Fountain Valley drive with an interception, Shane Keating

recorded two tackles for loss, and Fiscus, Shrock, and Adisa Lewis each

had a quarterback sack.

Bryce Loy, Derek DeMun, Jeff LaMond, Sean Tierney, Dean Persinger,

Michael Clark, and Taylor Grosso each were in on sacks, Loy forced a

fumble that was recovered by Grosso, and LaMond also recovered a fumble,

to spark Fountain Valley on defense.

Huntington Beach returns to play Saturday, taking on the Orange

Chiefs in an 11 a.m. kickoff at Hart Park in Orange. Fountain Valley will

take on the host Westminster Lions Saturday (1 p.m.) at Buckingham Park.
