Newport Harbor vs. Laguna Hills

Bottom line: Both the Sailors (5-0-1) and the Hawks (4-3) are 1-0 in

league and the victor claims sole possession of first place with just two

Sea View games remaining. Harbor is No. 3 in Orange County, but unranked

Hawks knocked off then-No. 8 Woodbridge last week.

Costa Mesa vs. University

Site: Newport Harbor High, 7 p.m.

Bottom line: Expected to be a potential PCL title showdown, it now leaves

the loser with an uphill battle to make the playoffs. Mesa (4-2) must

rebound from PCL loss to Estancia last week, while Trojans (2-4) open

league play coming off consecutive one-point losses.

Estancia vs. Laguna Beach

Site: Orange Coast College, 7 p.m.

Bottom line: The Eagles (4-2, 1-0) can claim sole possession of the PCL

lead with a victory, while Artists (3-3, 0-1) are battling for their

playoff lives. Both teams are more physical than they’ve been in years,

so big plays should figure prominently for the winner.

Corona del Mar vs. Woodbridge

Site: Irvine High, 7:30 p.m.

Bottom line: The Sea Kings (1-5) enter on a high after their first win,

but the Warriors (4-2) are looking to rebound after back-to-back defeats.

Former Sea View League rivals still hold a grudge, so this should be

hard-hitting affair, even though its now a nonleague clash.
