Dragons outlast Volcanoes

Cody Bertrand scored two third quarter goals Monday night to lift

the Dragons to an 8-7 victory over the Volcanoes in a Smythe Division

match played at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

The scores gave Bertrand three goals for the game, his first

coming in a three-goal first quarter explosion by the Dragons.

Bertrand also had an assist while Jeffrey Kurokawa scored twice,

Mark Kanow scored once, and Brandon Prince added an assist to complete

the Dragons offense.

Goalkeeper Patrick Lacy recorded 25 saves.

The Volcanoes, who came back from a 3-1 deficit to take a 5-4 lead

through two quarters of play, received two goals each from Matthew

Harrington and David Finney. Andy Wissel and Blake Easton each scored

once, Bobby Sowma scored once, and goalie Marc Cooney had 19 saves.

In other games:

Timberwolves 5, Flames 4

Billy Davis scored twice, Tip Donaldson, Aaron Fulmer, and Corey

Ivy all scored once, and both Davis and Jordan Wallace each had an assist

to pace the Timberwolves victory; David Taylor scored two goals, Jeffrey

Andrews and Michael Bohn both scored once, and Bohn also had an assist to

lead the Flames.

Flames 7, Predators 3

Andrew Mastrolia and Ryan Lien each scored twice, single goals

went to David Taylor, Jason Gonzell, and Ian Jahns for the victorious

Flames; Cody Barbo, Jamie Schlegel, and Mitchell Freeman all scored, and

both Schlegel and Richard Davis collected assists to lead the Predators.

Stick Men 3, Hat Trix 2

A balanced Stick Men scoring attack found Jake Fuller, Lee Herzog,

and Eric Morejon each scoring goals, Herzog also picked up an assist, and

goalie Brent Holden had 16 saves; both Rachel Costa and Brian Daigneault

scored in the third quarter for Hat Trix.
