AYSO Region 97: Bullets rally to sink the South Swell
NEWPORT BEACH - The Newport Beach Bullets of the AYSO Region 97,
Division 4, came from behind to knock off the South Swell, 3-2, Saturday.
Goals by Kevin Etter, Jonathan Mena and Jason Segura led to the
Bullets’ victory.
Bullets’ goalie Brian Cunningham kept numerous Swell shots from going
in to preserve the victory.
Solid team play for the Bullets was turned in by Chasen Murphy, Ryan
Ramming, Dillon Giedt, Justin Whisler, Andrew Marchi, Kyle Williams and
Bradley Branch.
In Region 97 Division 5 boys action:
Tsunami’s 5, Hunters 0 - Goalies Danny Miller and Cameron Chase lead
the Tsunami’s to the shutout win with numerous stops.
Ceasar Amador led the offense with two goals, with single goals coming
from R.J. D’Cruz, Erik Bonn and Kyle Caldwell.
Eric Holland had two assists, while Hayden Navarro had one for the
Tsunami’s.
On defense, Cameron Holmes, Rex Nelson, Michael Bingham and Mitchell
Bancroft led the way for the Tsunami’s.
In Division U-10 boys action:
Blue Vipers 2, Bobcats 2 - Wes Parks and Henry Pyle scored for the
Blue Vipers, with assists coming from Mark Espinoza and Drew Wittenberg.
Solid goalkeeping for the Blue Vipers came from Blake Chiapuzzo,
Darren Leggett and Peter Hapke, with effective defense from Humberto
Lozano, Jason Wittman and Drew Wittenberg.
Other team contributions came from Timothy Regan, Max Royer and Darren
Leggett.
In boys and girls Division 6 and 7 action:
In the Stingrays’ game against the Picachus, Ryan Burns and Riley Lowe
each scored goals, with Blake Partida shooting numerous times, and Cole
Macias, Sean Susman and James Jarvis providing the defense ... Lindsay
Anderson, Skylar Hanson and Hannah MacLeod each played well at goaltender
for the Teenie Wahine’s against the Cheetah’s, with Blakely Ficenec,
Lauren Pfifer, Jordan Murrell and Sadye Busby leading the offense and
Jessica Swift and Cassie D’Cruz leading the defense ... For the Breakers
in their game against the Slammers, Brianna Schwartz, Gillian Hogan,
Terra Friedman and Devyn Davis led the offense, with solid defense turned
in by Caitlin Tona, Mackenna Zorn, Kala Gladding and goalies Matalie
Conant and Amber Arendash.
