Eagles drop a pair
COSTA MESA - The Estancia High boys water polo team dropped two
games Monday in the opening rounds of its own tournament, but is showing
definite signs of improvement, according to Coach John Carpenter.
The Eagles (5-9) trailed Saddleback (which defeated them, 18-1, in the
season opener), 5-4, through three quarters, before surrendering an 11-5
verdict.
Estancia also lost to former Pacific Coast League rival Aliso Niguel,
11-3, to fall into the consolation bracket of the 12-team tournament.
Estancia’s David Collier and Brett Hellmich scored three goals in the two
games. The Eagles return to tournament play Saturday against an opponent
to be determined.
