OCC settles for third place
CITRUS -
Orange Coast College’s womens water polo team settled for third place
at the Citrus Tournament Saturday, to the chagrin of Coach Mike Giles,
who watched his team go scoreless in the final three periods of the
Piratges’ semifinal game with Orange Empire Conferfence rival Mt. San
Antonio on the way to a 4-2 setback.
The Pirates answered with a 9-3 rout of host Citrus in the third-place
game, but it was too late to atone in terms of championship consideration
as Coast moved to 16-3 overall.
In the first round on Friday, the Pirates crushed Canyons 17-1. OCC
then beat Rio Hondo for the second time this week 8-4. Cathy Klarich
scored five goals in the first game. Six different Pirates scored in
Friday’s second game.
