I am calling in reference to the proposed Dunes Hotel approval. I have

one rhetorical question: How do you mitigate the 60-100% increase in traffic for the balance of the Newport Beach residents? And the answer is

obviously via a no-vote by the city council for this overreaching

project.

I am calling in response to the Dunes Hotel project. I think it is a

great idea. What a wonderful place for a four-star hotel, right in the

Dunes Resort which is already a great recreational center. It has a

marina, RV park and has a wonderful family beach that we go to. I

understand that this has been planned by the people that operate the

Catamaran and Bahia hotels down in Mission Bay. And the architects are

the same folks who gave us the Four Seasons in Newport and the

Ritz-Carlton. This is a great opportunity for our city. Why would there

be any question about it? Let’s go for it!

We are for them putting a new hotel at the Dunes. I think it is a

wonderful idea. We think that it will only improve our city; bring more

revenue to our city. And I think it is just great. What a fantastic idea.

It will make the Back Bay look prettier out there. I hope that all of the

scuttle against it is not going to harm the future plans of the hotel at

the Dunes.
