AYSO Region 57: Hornets edge The Blaze, 1-0

COSTA MESA - Francis Krahe’s goal late in the fourth quarter broke

the scoreless tie and gave the Hornets a 1-0 win over The Blaze in AYSO

Region 57 Boys Division 4 action.

Krahe’s goal came off a corner kick from Jaffer Kattan.

For the Blaze, who played short a player for the entire 60 minutes,

Philip Banan, Mike Kendrick and Cole Trider played well enough to keep

the game scoreless up until the final minutes.

In other Boys Division 4 action:

Quick Silver 1, Patriots 0: Louis Bioche scored the game’s lone goal

in the first half for Quick Silver.

Solid defense by Mark Finster, Jarred Ashley and Hunt Rychel allowed

Quick Silver to hold on for the win.

For the Patriots, Julian Marisco, Ben Witte, Chris Holton and Alex

Belove kept the pressure on the entire game.

In Girls Division 4 action:

Cherry Bombs 2, Poison Ivy 0: Katie Kubas and Paige Offerbein scored

the Cherry Bombs’ goals for the win.

Bailey Gardner, Lindsay Norman and Hillary Arnold led the Cherry

Bombs’ defense.

Galaxy Girls 3, Bubble Trouble 2: Taylor Beachamp scored all three

goals to lead the Galaxy Girls.

For the Galaxy Girls, solid team play was turned in by Rachel Haber,

Jae Morosin, Amanda Knuppel, Kelly Nelson, Kara Jones, Kelly McElroy,

Caroline Claure, Ashley Carnahan, Emily Almaraz, Jessica Wertheim, Katie

Wade and Caitlyn Czisny.

Ashley Katz scored both goals for the Bubble Trouble, with outstanding

play from Katie McKitterick and goalies Ashley Chandler, Katie Schulte

and Jessica Milner.

USA Babes 3, Bazooka Babes 0: Alexa McCarthy scored two goals, while

her twin sister, Alycia added the other to lead the USA Babes.

Marisa Scott had three assists, while Sanya Wadhwa and Amanda Shaw set

up the offense with crisp passes.

Also playing well for the USA Babes were Madison Kawakami, Leilani

Livingston, Clara Lopes, Erika Palmer, Megan Spindler, Caroline Pearson

and Christine Burke.

Millennium Babes 1, Bruisers 0: Kessa Palchikoff scored the game’s

lone goal on an assist from Sonia Bui to lead the Millennium Babes.

K.T. Molinaro recorded a shutout in goal for the Babes, while solid

team play was turned in by Kara Percival, Rachel Heyler and Blair

Tarnutzer.

In Boys Division 5 action:

Blue Bombers 5, Blues Brothers 0: Parker Rhodes scored two goals and

had two assists to lead the Blue Bombers.

Nick Freeman and Mitchell Williams scored on Rhodes’ two assists.

Reed Williams provided the Blue Bombers fifth goal, while goalies

Camden Higginson and Bret Weinberger kept the Blues Brothers off the

scoreboard for the win.

In Girls Division 6 action:

The Double Mint Girls were paced offensively against the Backstreet

Girls by Sarah Folks with three goals and single tallies from Hanna

Smart, Amanda Garrett and Madison Simmonds.

The Backstreet Girls’ Kate Baldoni had three goals in the contest ...

The Sea Queens’ Alexa Cohen and Korine Korman provided the offense, while

Athena Livadas, Alyssa Hunter and Neda Ghassemi led the defense against

the Pink Poodles ... In the Double Mint Girls’ game against the

Bumblebees, Folks, Smart, Garrett, Simmonds, Haley Perkins and Ashley

Davis were the offensive leaders, while in goal, Margaret Valdes made

scoring difficult for the Bumblebees ... Courtney Lee, Randi Fullen,

Nikki Reed, Caitlin Ahern and Lizzie Murtaugh led the Blue Streaks in

their matchup with the Blue Tidal Waves ... For Poison Ivy, Valen Taylor

scored two goals, while Jillian Taylor and Brittany Martinez each added a

goal in their game against the Pink Lightning ... Goals were scored by

Michelle Marshall, Leila Pozin and Monica Schnapp to lead the Blazing

Tornadoes against the Maroon Monsters ... For the Killer Whales in their

matchup with the Power Puff Girls, goals were scored by Courtney Welch,

Alexandra Reinach and Alexa Ossipoff ... Megan Rucker had her second goal

of the season with an assist from Maddy Bendetti, while Clare Dreyfus

worked two scoreless quarters in goal for the Pink Poodles in one of

their weekend matchups.
