Midget Chargers roll, 24-6

The Huntington Beach Chargers came up with a complete team effort

Saturday, and the result was a resounding 24-6 victory over the Santa Ana

Redskins in a Pop Warner Football Midget Division game at Edison High.

Donnie Spreeman scored a pair of touchdowns, once on an interception

return, the other on a run, to pace the Chargers. Wesley Kinkopf also

rushed for a score and was one of the top tacklers for Huntington Beach.

Other defensive standouts included Sean Wagner in the tackling

department, and both Tim Ryan and Trevor Fields, each of whom had

quarterback sacks.

Fields also provided three point-after attempts for the Chargers.

Huntington Beach travels Saturday to take on the La Habra Lions in a 7

p.m. kickoff.

Santa Margarita 14, Huntington Beach 6

Josh Herrera scored the lone touchdown for the Green Chargers on a

65-yard run behind the blocking of Chris Mitchell, Dylan Nelson, and

Chris Maki as Huntington Beach suffered its first loss of the season.

Adam Halstead, who had a fumble recovery, and the play of Shawn

Higgenbotham and Jake Slaton, led the Huntington Beach defense.

The Green Chargers will host the unbeaten Yorba Linda Warriors Saturday

(noon) at Edison High.
