AYSO 120: Night Hawks squeak by Tidal Wave, 3-2
COSTA MESA - The under-12-boys Night Hawks of AYSO Region 120
defeated the Tidal Wave, 3-2, Sept. 26, in youth soccer action.
The Night Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Eddy Collin and
Josh Sepeda.
It remained that way until the fourth quarter when the Tidal Wave
scored back-to-back goals to tie the score.
Ernesto Castenada managed to slip a shot by the Tidal Wave goalkeeper
with the clock winding down for the win.
Offensive support was turned in by Kenneth Zich, Kevin Kane, Dylan
Vaughan and Nate Ashton.
Garrett McMasters, Westin Bruflodt, Albert Nava, Daniel Freeman,
Daniel Gomez and A.J. Grams played well on defense.
In other under-12-boys action:
Tasmanian Devils 2, Night Hawks 2 - Devils goals by Ghandy Nava and
P.J. Errington led the Devils offense.
Ernesto Castenada and Kenneth Zich scored the two goals for the Night
Hawks.
Orange Crush 1, Team USA 0 - Brian Henriquez, after a nifty move to
the inside, managed to score by the diving goaltender for the Orange
Crush.
Andy Sussman made great defensive stops for the Crush, who remain
unbeaten in regular season play.
For Team USA, defense was anchored by William Briseno, BrianPerez,
Cody Waldron, Zach Wagner, Edwin Moreno and Nick Ippolito.
In under-10 action:
Mighty Alligators 2, Red Bombers 1 - On the boys side, despite solid
defensive play from Luis Labrado, Renny Martinez, Matthew Hillberg, Juan
Soto and goalkeeper Nicholas Vinson, the Alleygators prevailed.
Adam Seagondollar managed to put one past the outstretched arms of the
Alleygators’ goalie for the Red Bombers’ lone goal.
The Bombers’ offense was led by Dontay Lessor, Gregory Vinson, Josh
Gonzales, Trevor McGuff, Francisco Moreno, Anthony Arellano and Peter
Schreyer.
Wildcats 2, Panthers 0 - On the girls side, two first-half goals by
Brook Urmson and Lauren King gave the Wildcats all the offense they would
need.
Andrea Oyos and Alexis Sellers led the offensive charge for the
Wildcats, while goalie Karissa Jones maintained the shutout with a great
save on a hard Panthers shot late in the game.
In under-8 action:
Fireballs 1, Tigers 0 - In boys action, Alex Stradwick scored the
game’s only goal for the Fireballs early in the second half, with as
assist turned in by Brandon Karr.
Excellent defense was turned in by Kevin Kiser and goalie Austin
Metzger.
Fireballs 1, Sharks 0 - Kevin Kiser was the lone goal-scorer for the
Fireballs.
Jack King and Derek Lecot kept the Sharks off the scoreboard with
solid defense.
Rockets 9, Red Scorpions 0 - Ben Nordstrom scored two goals,while
Jonathan Knauer, Andrew Roth and Matt Viles each added a goal for the
Rockets.
Alexander Allions, Preston Schow and Nordstrom were solid on defense,
keeping the Scorpions off the scoreboard.
On the girls side, The Pink Panthers won their first three games of
the season, beating the Blueberries, 11-0, the Red Foxes, 4-1, and the
Blue Dolphins, 4-2.
Britiany Grimmett is the leading scorer for the Panthers with seven
goals thus far.
Also scoring goals were Michaela Watson, Kate Lohrstorfer, Avery
Ingram, Makenna Sanislo, Natalie Seckel and Amanda Watson.
On the defensive side, Morgan Pautsch, Jenna Hurty and Annie Daw
played effectively for the Panthers.
