Girls tennis: Newport Harbor sweeps Irvine
NEWPORT BEACH - Newport Harbor High’s girls tennis gave up only one
game in singles and had a solid showing in doubles for the second match
in a row following Thursday’s 18-0 rout over Irvine in both team’s Sea
View League opener.
“I think our doubles teams are back,” Coach Fletcher Olson said
afterward. “We played well against Capistrano Valley Wednesday and we
were solid again today.”
Leading the doubles was the team of Erika Buder and Jenny Myer, who won,
6-0, 6-1, 6-1 for the Sailors (6-1, 1-0 in league). Irvine falls to 3-8,
0-1.

Singles: Braverman (NH) def. Fini, 6-0, def. Leslie, 6-0, def. Yong, 6-0;
Case (NH), won 6-0, 6-0, 6-0; Godbey (NH), won 6-0, 6-0, 6-1.
Doubles: Adams-Nelson (NH) def. Connelly-Chao, 7-5; def. Thair-Jung, 6-3,
def. Stagg-Nguyen, 6-0; Buder-Myer (NH) won 6-0, 6-1, 6-1;
Barker-Schneider (NH) won 6-4, 6-3, 6-3.
