NEWPORT BEACH - The National Senior Women’s Hardcourt Tennis

Tournament is in full swing with the top three seeds advancing to the

semifinals, along with dark horse Hattie Somerville.

The 65 Singles semifinals are today at 10 a.m. at Newport Beach Tennis

Club, followed by the 75 Doubles finals at 11:30 a.m. Dodo Cheney and

Lucy Dettmer advanced to the finals over Betty Eisenstein and Jerry

Golding, 6-3, 6-3.

They’ll meet Ellie Harbula and Carolyn Henry, who eliminated Phyllis

Adler and Virginia Krebs, 5-7, 7-4, 6-1.

The 75 Singles final are on Saturday and features Eisenstein against

Henry. Eisenstein defeated Harbula, 6-2, 6-0, and Henry fought off

Golding, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6.

The feed-in championship division features several local players.

Cathie Hall, Dottie Knode and Julie Hayward play in the quarterfinals at

8:30 a.m. today. The 75 Singles division features Adler and Dettmer in

the final, also today at 8:30 a.m.
