AYSO Region 97 results
COSTA MESA - Kyle Caldwell scored the game’s only goal to lead the
Tsunamis to a 1-0 win over the Blue Vipers Saturday in AYSO Region 97
Division 5 boys soccer action.
Solid play by sweepers Rex Nelson and R.J. D’Cruz, along with the goal
tending by Cameron Holmes and Cameron Chase helped the Tsunamis to the
shutout.
Erik Bonn collected the assist on Caldwell’s goal and Cesar Amador and
Eric Holland paced the attack at forwards.
Hayden Navarro and Danny Miller played solid defense and good
all-around play was turned in by Michael Bingham, Mitchell Bancroft and
Steven Reader.
For the Blue Vipers, solid play was turned in by all who played,
including Marcos Castaneda, Wes Parks, Darren Leggett, Mark Espinoza,
Henry Pyle, Timothy Regan, Peter Hapke, Santiago Castaneda, Drew
Wittenberg and Jason Wittman.
In other Division 5 action:
Warthogs 4, Vipers 2 - Brandon Parole scored three goals and Chris
Lewis added a fourth for the Warthogs in the victory.
Cody Parole and Noe Gonzales each had an assist and Zach Gagnon,
Jonathan Sommerfield, Peter Gnuyen and Jacob Ricker played stingy
defense.
In Division 6 and 7:
Kellon Truxton, Robbie Retting and Zach Friedman each provided offense
for the Geckos in their contest with the Blastoise in boys Division 7
action.
Solid defense was played by C.J. Tona and Conner Kelly with awesome
passes coming from Clay Smith and Skyler Gray.
In Saturday’s girls Division 6 game between the Teenie Wahines and the
Fighting Green Machine, Ashley Svendsen and Jessica Swift led the Teenie
Wahines offense with Cassie D’Cruz controlling the midfield with her ball
handling.
Lindsay Anderson, Lauren Pfifer and Jordan Murrel did not let a ball
get past them while playing in goal.
Skylar Hanson played sweeper and kept the Green Machine at bay while
Hannah MacLeod played a solid all-around game for the Teenie Wahines.
