Girls tennis: CdM pounds Santa Barbara

CORONA DEL MAR - Anne Yelsey and Kristen Griffith swept through

their doubles sets without giving up a point to lead Corona del Mar to a

17-1 girls tennis victory over visiting Santa Barbara Wednesday.

Also playing well was the doubles team of Nicole Charney and Laura

Claster, who won, 6-2, 6-1, 6-1, for the Sea Kings (3-4).

On the singles side for CdM, Kim Singer lost only two games en route to

her 6-0, 6-2, 6-0, victory.

Next up for the Sea Kings is today’s league opener against visiting

Laguna Beach at 3:15 p.m.

Corona del Mar 17, Santa Barbara 1

Singles: Vaughn (CdM) def. Steele, 6-1, def. Bennett, 6-2, def.

Alverstrom, 6-0; Singer (CdM) won 6-0, 6-2, 6-0; Damion (CdM) won 6-1,

lost 5-7, won 6-0.

Doubles: Yelsey-Griffith (CdM) def. Robinson-Robertson, 6-0;

Turner-Miller, 6-0; Hufford-Rifkin, 6-0; Jacobson-Tenerelli (CdM) won

6-1, 6-2, 6-3; Charney-Claster (CdM) won 6-2, 6-1, 6-1.
