(at Huntington Beach High, 7 p.m.)

Westminster vs. Marina Marina by 10

(at Westminster High, 7 p.m.)

SATURDAY’S GAMES

Fountain Valley vs. Servite Servite by 6

(at Cal State Fullerton, 2 p.m.)

And here’s why...

It’s payback time for Edison High tonight as it meets Long Beach

Wilson, the school which sent the Chargers into a tailspin last season. A

well-rested Edison team, which had a bye last week, has too much

firepower on offense, and a much-improved offense, to be fooled by the

Bruins’ wing offense. Last year: LB Wilson, 64-34...

Huntington Beach High has gone on the defense the past two weeks,

and the Oilers will need to come up with more of the same against a

strong Paramount club. It’s said that defense wins ball games, and that

being the case, then the Oilers should chalk up victory No. 4. Last year:

Huntington Beach, 9-0...

In a friendly neighborhood battle, Marina High should bounce back

from its first loss of the season to defeat rival Westminster. The Lions

come limping into this contest at 1-2, and a good Vikings team has just

too much for Westminster to handle - with, or without, fullback Ray

Mietkiewicz. Last year: Marina, 35-13...

The battle between Division I traditional powers Fountain Valley

High and Servite features two defensive-minded teams. Fountain Valley’s

will need to be at it’s best in order to contain the Friars’

grind-it-out, ball-control offense. In order to defeat Servite, the

Barons will need to score more than the 13 points they’ve averaged in

their first three games. Last year: Fountain Valley, 7-3.

Two teams on the upswing meet Friday when Ocean View High travels

to Laguna Beach. The Seahawks’ prolific offense should receive its

stiffest test of the young season, and Ocean View will need to be on its

game in order to beat the Artists. Last year: Ocean View, 33-7...
