Brigade continues winning ways

The Brigade continued their winning ways in league play by wrapping

up a pair of impressive shutout victories last weekend.

The boys Under-13 soccer team began the weekend Saturday with a

4-0 blanking of North Huntington Beach, then came back on Sunday to top

the Cerritos United Cruz Azul by an identical 4-0 score.

Kareem Khalil led the Brigade’s two-game swing with four goals,

with JP Smith, Brandon Plummer, Jarrid Johnston, and Jeremy Small each

scoring once.

The two wins come on the heels of league-opening wins over the

Cerritos Panthers (5-2) and the OJSE Elite (3-1).

In four league matches, the Brigade offense has averaged four

goals per outing, while the defense, composed of Johnston, Brad Smith,

Bryce McKendry, Steven Kalogeropoulos, Bryan Osuna, and Brendon Welsh,

has allowed the opponent a 0.75 scoring average.

The red-hot Brigade is comprised of Brad Smith, Jarrid Johnston,

JP Smith, Adam Beavor, Bryce McKendry, Steven Kalogeropoulos, Kevin

Fronk, Kareem Khalil, David Sias, Bryan Osuna, Brandon Plummer, Jeremy

Small, and Brendon Welch.
