Jr. Midget Jaguars roll
The Fountain Valley Jaguar defense turned up the heat on the
Newport Mesa Seahawks Saturday, and the result led to a 30-0 Junior
All-American Football Jr. Midget Division victory at Fountain Valley
High.
The hard-hitting Jaguar defense came up with four turnovers with
two fumble recoveries and a pair of interceptions, both interceptions
being returned for touchdowns.
Ray Andong led Fountain Valley (2-0-1) with 11 tackles and
returned one of the interceptions 56 yards for a score. Bryan Reihm was
next with eight tackles, Bob Silva returned an interception 18 yards for
another touchdowns, and both Jeff Millard and Phillip Sommer each had a
fumble recovery.
Fountain Valley’s defense limited Newport Mesa to just 28 yards
rushing and 115 yards total offense.
Quarterback Kyle Feiler rushed for 89 yards and passed for 86 more
as the Jaguar finished with 268 yards of offense.

JR. CLINIC DIVISION
Fountain Valley 32, Garden Grove 0
The Jaguar offense exploded for 260 yards behind the blocking of
Andy Palacios, Ian McNicol, Cody Grant, and Leon Robb, who cleared the
way for touchdown runs by Dylon Conley, Chad Palsulich, Danny Dion, and
Chris Martinez.
The Jaguar defense was also dominant as Martinez recorded a fumble
recovery and led the team in tackles with six. Palacios, the team’s
captain, controlled the middle throughout the game and caused two
fumbles.
Other defensive standouts included Scott Baker, Scott Rychlik, and
Loren Robb, who caused a fumble in the third quarter.
PEE WEE DIVISION
Mission Viejo 20, Fountain Valley 6
Despite the setback, the Fountain Valley defense turned in a
strong performance against a visiting Mission Viejo squad that had scored
more than 40 points in its first two games.
Chris Lee caused a fumble that Garrett Leon scooped up and
returned for 10 yards, and the Jaguar defense only allowed the Cowboys
one long, sustained scoring drive during the entire game.
Receiver Daniel Rodriguez scored on a pass from Jimmy Leeman to
account for the Fountain Valley scoring.
JR. PEE WEE DIVISION
South Orange Co. 46, Fountain Valley 0
The Teal Jaguars, a first-year expansion team, held the powerful
Patriots (3-0) to just 13 points at the half, thanks to a defense that
stopped one potential scoring drive and recovered a fumble on another
South Orange County possession.
Fountain Valley (0-3) will host the Mission Viejo Cowboys Saturday
(1 p.m.) at Fountain Valley High.
