CdM finishes ninth

NEWPORT BEACH - Host Corona del Mar High’s boys water polo team

topped Iolani and Los Alamitos for ninth place in the South Coast

Tournament Saturday.

After a 4-4 tie in the first half, the Sea Kings broke it open with a 5-1

run to put Iolani away. Garrett Gentry and Garrett Bowlus each had three

goals for CdM. Brad Netherton had seven saves and shut down Iolani after

the first period.

In the ninth-place game, CdM held on to a 5-2 halftime lead and won, 6-5.

Gentry’s four goals led the Sea Kings, but it was Netherton’s 11 saves

that were key.
