MILLENNIUM MOMENT
Pete Barrett has been involved with too many Newport Beach civic
organizations to list. Some of the more prominent titles he has held
include president of the Chamber of Commerce, Boat Parade chairman,
Rotary Club president and, in 1984, citizen of the year.
Barrett moved to Newport in 1938 and was intimately involved with the
city’s early development. He helped set up the Newport’s network of storm
drains, waterlines and sewer pipes and was instrumental in the
development of the Nautical Museum.
He works today as a real estate agent in Newport Beach.
* MILLENNIUM MOMENT celebrates the people who have made a major
contribution to the Newport-Mesa community during this century.
