Stars topple Sabres to win Norris crown
With team captain Andrew Jackson scoring two goals, the Stars
captured the Norris Division’s Summer League championship by beating the
Sabres, 5-1, in the division final at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center
in Huntington Beach.
Jackson scored the Stars’ first and final goals, which sandwiched
scores by Nichloas Perez, Kevin Cant, and Steven Koressel.
Goalie Ben Hynes recorded 20 saves.
The lone Sabres goal was a second period score by Matt McWilliams
off an assist from Brandon Prince, and goalie Garrett Ono finished with
18 saves.

Blades 5, Extreme 4
In a tense final, the Blades were led by Greg Pearce’s two goals,
while single scores went to Kris Ehret, Vincent Urnali, and Kevin
Kasubuchi. Pearce, Ehret, Nick Haider, and Shaun Rakhshani collected
assists.
Goalie Casey Becking had 14 saves.
Robbie Kleinberg scored twice to lead Extreme, who also received
single goals from both Dane Johnson and William Holzer, two assists from
Brian Murphy and one from Derek Eichert, and 17 saves by goalie Steve
Alvarado.
