Jaguars start fast, finish off Hogs
The Fountain Valley Jaguars took it to Downey right from the
opening kickoff Saturday and didn’t let up until the final gun, which
found the visitors with a 45-0 rout of the Razorbacks in a Jr. Midget
Division Junior All-American Football contest.
Fountain Valley (1-0-1) collected its first win of the season,
thanks to a fast start on offense, and a defense that never let up on the
Razorbacks.
The Jaguars took the opening kickoff and marched downfield for the
only score they would need, a 23-yard touchdown run by Bob Silva. On
Fountain Valley’s first defensive stand of the day, Silva scooped up a
Downey fumble and ran it back 28 yards for another score and a 12-0 lead.
Quarterback Kyle Feiler completed 5 of 9 passes for 140 yards. His
main target, Doug DeLong, finished with 97 yards on two receptions.
Ray Andong, who gained 58 yards, paced the Jaguars ‘ 156 yard
rushing day, and Silva was next with 50 yards.
Andong also led the Fountain Valley defense with nine sacks, and
also scored on touchdown on a 57-yard interception return. Other
defensive standouts included Anthony Breceda with seven tackles, both
DeLong and Bryan Reihm with six each, Michael Musso with five, and both
Silva and Sean Gutierrez with three each, while Luis Villegas provided
constant defensive pressure.
The Jaguars return home Saturday to host the Newport Mesa Seahawks
in a 3 p.m. kickoff at Fountain Valley High.

expansion team, fell to the unbeaten Colts (2-0), last year’s Super Bowl
runner-up. Michael Clark and Sean Tierney combined for three quarterback
sacks, both Johnny Schlottman and Max Bell each recovered a fumble, and
Nathan Morris perfectly executed a fake punt for a first down to lead the
Jaguars.
‘Luckily, we play three championship teams to start our season,
and it strengthens our novice players,’ Teal Jaguars Coach MikeTierney
said. ‘Our team is playing better every week.’
Next up for the Teal Jaguars is a Saturday trip to Dana Hills
High, where they will take on the South Orange County Patriots (2-0).
