Tonight’s Game

Ocean View vs. Century OV by 7

(at Santa Ana Bowl, 7 p.m.)

FRIDAY’S GAMES

La Mirada vs. Fountain Valley FV by 2

(at Huntington Beach High, 7 p.m.)

Huntington Beach vs. LB Millikan HB by 3

(at Long Beach Millikan High, 7 p.m.)

Marina vs. Upland Marina by 2

(at Upland High, 7 p.m.)

And here’s why...

If Ocean View High can keeps mistakes at a minimum tonight against

Century, then the Seahawks should post victory No. 3 of the season. The

Centurions might have a hard time containing Seahawk quarterback Deshai

Houston, who hasn’t been contained in the first two weeks of the season.

Last year’s meeting: Ocean View, 16-13...

Fountain Valley will be looking to bounce back from last week’s

loss at Centennial, but the Barons will have their hands full with a

talented and tradition-rich La Mirada squad, which boasts a strong

rushing game and a balanced attack. In order to emerge victorious,

however, the Barons will need to put more points on the scoreboard than

the 24 they’ve mustered in their first two games. Last year: teams did

not meet...

Huntington Beach’s defense came on strong last week against

Torrance, and the Oilers will need to give a similar performance in order

to subdue Long Beach Millikan of the Moore League. Last year, Huntington

rolled past Millikan, but the Rams’ offense is much improved and was in

high gear last week as it posted 48 points in a shutout victory. Last

year: Huntington Beach, 28-6...

Marina will find out what life is like without the services of

fullback Ray Mietkiewicz, who is out indefinitely with a broken wrist.

Marina’s wing offense might not be enough to offset a balanced Upland

team, but the Viking defense could spell the difference in this one. Last

year: Upland, 24-17.
