MILLENNIUM MOMENT
A member of the National Teacher’s Hall of Fame, Costa Mesa resident
Al Painter won praise for his personal style as an educator and for the
European tours he led. Painter worked as a minister for 12 years in Los
Angeles and Long Beach before taking a position as a philosophy professor
at Orange Coast College. He was declared OCC’s outstanding instructor of
1974 and inducted into the National Teacher’s Hall of Fame in 1975.
Painter was praised for being a fair and friendly teacher. He won the
affection of hundreds of students who took European tours that he and his
wife, Anita, led during summers.
MILLENNIUM MOMENT celebrates the people who have made a major
contribution to the Newport-Mesa community during this century.
