Recruiters from more than 80 public and private colleges and

universities nationwide will visit OCC from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 28

for the schools annual Transfer Day. Representatives from University of

California and California State University campuses will be on hand for

students to speak with. Representatives from independent California

colleges and universities and out-of-state institutions also will be

participating.

An admissions office representative from San Diego State University

will be on hand from 1 to 3 p.m. to talk with students interested in

transferring.

OCC students, other community college students and high school students

can talk with representatives about transferring to their campuses.

OCC is No. 1 out of the state’s 57 community colleges in transferring

students to four-year schools.

Recruiters will be stationed at tables in the quad. Students can pick

up literature regarding transfer requirements, educational offerings,

admissions, procedures, scholarships, fees and expenses, campus

environment, student housing, athletics, financial aid, special programs,

services for the disadvantaged and ROTC programs.

/SH OCC publishes booklet on classes

OCC recently released a 24-page booklet listing non-credit

business-oriented seminars, customized training and online classes the

school will offer this spring. The free booklet is titled “Economic

Development and Community Education” and can be picked up in the school’s

Community Education Office next to the library on campus, 2701 Fairview

Road.

Booklets will be mailed upon request.

The booklet is published by the school’s Small Business Assistance

Center and offers an array of online classes, computer training and

seminars highlighting topics covering careers, entrepreneurship,

financial planning, real estate, sales and international studies. The

Small Business Assistance Center offers consulting services and

referrals. One-on-one counseling, business plan preparation, financial

analysis, management reviews, home-based businesses and personnel

management are just some of the consulting services the center offers.
