Football: Newport-Mesa Jr. All-American football results
The Newport-Mesa Jr. All-American Football Junior Clinic Seahawks
won their first game of the season against the Long Beach Cowboys,
winning, 13-6.
The defense was led by David Kidushium, Jack Belli, Nick Tripi and
Jake Taylor, who limited the Cowboys to a single touchdown.
With the game all tied up, the Seahawks marched down the field, led by
solid runs from Anton Byrd and Kyle Chene to score with three minutes
left to play.
The offensive line, which aided the winning drive, included Mickey
Miela, Austin Ford, Andrew Fulcher and D.J. Hauser.
In other NMJAAF action:
The Clinic-level Seahawks opened their season with a strong, 32-0 win
over the Corona Panthers.
The defense, led by Scott Chene, Robbie Lusk, Taylor Sepulveda, Erik
Rask, Garrett Amoroso, Woody Yokoyama, Michael Kidushim and Colby
Ammerman, caused numerous turnovers and kept Corona scoreless.
Lusk, Carlo Valdes and Jacob Gildart led the offensive attack for the
Seahawks.
The Seahawk Irish Midget team fought hard to an 8-8 tie with the South
Bay Packers.
Matt Encinias, on a wide sweep, pulled back and threw a 25-yard
touchdown pass to Fernando Azurin for the game-tying touchdown with 1:33
remaining.
The Seahawks’ defense was led by linemen Brian Wase, Cole Edwards,
Joevany Cueva and Travis Winrow.
In the Pee Wee Seahawks’ 20-0 win over the Mission Viejo Cowboys,
touchdowns were scored by Marc Quarles, Junior Rodriguez and Ryan Lance.
Producing holes for the ballcarriers were Shawn Mohler, Brent Ogden,
Eric Ray, Steve Hancock, Matt Silva and Bijan Ahmandi.
The defense, which recorded its second shutout of the season, was led
by Tyler Ellis, Nathan Packer, Jordan Taormina, James Coder, Patrick
Williams and Anthony Santos.
The Pee Wees remain undefeated in five contests and host a tough
Compton team Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bonita Creek Park.
