Mohs receives honor
A process that took a little over three years to complete finally
reached its climax last week when the Huntington Beach Union High School
District came up with a unanimous vote to rename the Edison High
gymnasium in honor of former athletic director Dave Mohs.
Don Leavey, a retired teacher at Edison and who helped spearhead
the drive to have the gymnasium re-dedicated in Mohs’ honor, said the
district voted in favor of the measure by a 5-0 count.
‘It’s a great honor for Dave, and the dedication is scheduled to
take place sometime in late January of 2000,’ Leavey said.
Mohs died of cancer in 1996.
