Arden Flamson of Corona del Mar created the Richard J. Flamson

Hereditary Screening Program at Hoag Hospital after her husband died of

leukemia in 1991. The program is designed to help people who believe they

may be hereditarily at risk for cancer. Flamson is a member of Circle

1000, Sandpipers, Foundation Fifty and the Festival of Trees, all of

which raise funds for the hospital. Her efforts have helped to generate

more than $3 million for the Cancer Center during the last 12 years.

Flamson is also the grandmother of eight.

* MILLENNIUM MOMENT celebrates the people who have made a major

contribution to the Newport-Mesa community during this century.
