County and greater Los Angeles/Ventura is a $5 general admission

Playhouse Tour Ticket, or a ticket to the Auction Party, $20 for adults

and $5 for children 12 and under. The Project Playhouse builder teams

have built a village of full-size, elaborate children’s playhouses that

will be on public display at Fashion Island from Sept. 17 to Oct. 16. The

14 builder teams include Capital Pacific Holdings Inc.; Griffin

Industries; Neiman Marcus with Tony Valentine Construction; Newport Beach

Fire Fighters; Osborne Development; Pardee Homes; Presley Home of

Southern California; Taylor Woodrow Homes; Terry Lumber Construction; The

Richard Crawford Co.; Trimark Pacific Homes; William Lyon Homes; WMC

Development LLC; and Xbalanque Corp. Each playhouse will be sold to the

highest bidder at the auction party, set for Oct. 16 at Fashion Island.

Tickets include admission to the auction, dinner, family, entertainment

and a guided tour of the playhouses on a weekend day. HomeAid Orange

County is celebrating its 10th anniversary of building and renovating

Don McLean is in concert at 8 p.m. Saturday at OCC in the Robert B. Moore

Theater. McLean hits include “American Pie” and “Vincent (Starry Night).”

Island in Newport Beach. You can save $5 on registration fees by

preregistering before Sept. 18. There are walk-in registration stations

set up from Friday to Sept. 21 at the New Balance store at Corona del Mar

Plaza and at the Fashion Island concierge desk. The preregistration fees

are $25 for adults, and youth and seniors $15. Registration on the race

day begins at 6:30 a.m. The family one mile fun run/walk starts at 7:30

a.m., the women’s 5K run/walk starts at 7:50 a.m., the coed 5K run starts

at 9:40 a.m., and the coed 5K walk starts at 9:45 a.m. The event starts

and finishes at Pacific Life, 700 Newport Center Drive in Newport Beach.

For the first time ever, the Orange County Fairgrounds will have a Craft

& Sewing Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning today through

Saturday. The price for admission is $7, which gets you in every day of

pattern and tools for making crafts, needle-arts, quilts and sewing.
