Balloon causes hour-long power outage for thousands in Laguna Beach
A metallic balloon caught in electrical equipment caused thousands of ratepayers in Laguna Beach to lose power Monday, police said.
Some 5,200 customers in central and north Laguna Beach were affected by the incident, which began around 5 p.m. Power was restored to most within an hour, according to police.
As of Tuesday morning, Southern California Edison was still working on the outage, which left two customers without power.
