Blackhawk and Apache helicopters stop at JWA during military exercises
Air traffic is nothing unusual around John Wayne Airport — unless it includes 22 Blackhawk and Apache helicopters.
That’s the sight commuters and nearby residents got Tuesday as military aircraft stopped in Orange County for refueling during 25th Combat Aviation Brigade training exercises.
The helicopters made stops at JWA between 8 a.m. and 1:15 p.m., according to the airport.
The Army unit was traveling from Fort Irwin in San Bernardino County to San Diego, the airport said.
