3 taken to trauma centers after H.B. crash sends truck under a power pole and SUV into apartment building

Three people were taken to trauma centers after a two-vehicle crash Saturday in Huntington Beach sent a truck under a power pole and a Mercedes-Benz SUV through a wall of an apartment building, the city’s fire department reported.

Fire crews responded to a report just after 5:30 p.m. of live electrical wires down at the intersection of Edwards Street and Warner Avenue, according to the department.

A pickup had hit a power pole and an SUV had struck the building.

Southern California Edison was immediately called for assistance.

After Edison confirmed the downed lines were not live, the overturned pickup and the power pole were stabilized and firefighters removed the truck’s roof to extricate two people from it. One person was removed from the SUV.

Building inspectors worked to assess the damage to the apartment building, according to the fire department.

No bystanders or residents of the apartment complex were injured, the department reported.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Huntington Beach Police Department.
