A car slammed into the front of a Costa Mesa video rental store Sunday night when a female driver mistook the gas pedal for the brakes, police said.
The crash happened about 8:30 p.m. in the 800 block of 19th Street, Costa Mesa police Sgt. Dan Miles said.
The car was going approximately 5 mph when it hit the front of U.S. Video, Miles said.
The impact shattered windows and damaged some metal pillars in front of the business, but didn’t cause any structural damage, according to police.
A car in front of U.S. Video and a next-door bakery, La Espiga De Oro, also suffered some minor damage, according to Miles.
“It was a significant enough hit that it pushed stuff over that was up against the joint wall that was between the two businesses,” he said.
No one was injured or arrested.
Police do not suspect alcohol was involved, Miles said.
