Historical Society to hold Kickoff Dinner

The Newport Beach Historical Society will host its Kickoff Dinner Oct. 21.

The event will include a presentation about the history of the Newport Beach Dory Fleet, the beachside cooperative where local fishermen have been selling their catch since 1891.

Scheduled speakers include Stephanie Mutz, a Santa Barbara diver who catches and sells sea urchins at Dory Fleet every week, and Sea Stephanie Fish, a commercial fisherman and adjunct professor of biology at Ventura Community College.

The event will be held on October 21 at 6 p.m. at Harborside Restaurant in Newport Beach. Seats are $35 per person. To purchase tickets, visit newportbeachhistorical.org.
