Man arrested in robbery at Corona del Mar parking lot
Newport Beach police arrested a 54-year-old man on suspicion of robbing a woman in a Corona del Mar parking lot Monday afternoon.
A man approached the woman around 1:45 p.m. in a lot at East Coast Highway and Acacia Avenue and asked for money, said Newport Beach police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella.
According to police, the woman reached into her car to get her wallet and the man grabbed cash out of a storage compartment in the driver-side door.
When the woman confronted him, there was a struggle and the robber made off with about $25 to $30, according to police.
The woman called police with a detailed description of the man. Officers quickly arrested Tyrone Charles Bradley of Westminster near East Coast Highway west of Irvine Terrace, Manzella said.
The woman was not hurt, and police said they retrieved the stolen money.
Bradley is being held in Orange County Jail with bail set at $50,000, according to Orange County Sheriff’s Department records.
