Woman cut by glass thrown at Newport bar
Medics treated a woman for facial cuts and heavy bleeding after a disagreement in a Newport Beach bar early Friday, authorities said.
When officers arrived at The District Lounge, near the Newport Beach Pier, shortly after 1:30 a.m., a security guard told them a male patron had thrown a glass at the woman’s face and left.
Officers started looking for the woman, but as they walked through the bar, they had to break up another incident, police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella said.
When the officers made it to the alley behind the bar, they found the injured woman, Manzella said. Officials took her to a local hospital.
Police were unable to find the attacker, Manzella said. No description of him was available.
Police said they don’t believe the man and woman knew each other before that night.
