Cows, college and cash combine for fundraiser
Orange Coast College Foundation will host a Western-themed fundraiser, Party ‘Til the Cows Come Home for Scholarships, on Aug. 7 with proceeds going toward student scholarships.
Along with live music, dancing and auction opportunities, the crowd will get the chance to see the nearly 200 livestock set to parade in the Aug. 8 cattle drive to the OC Fair.
The steer are tended by a cowboy crew inside a gated space near the OCC softball field.
“To be a part of this one-time event, because the fair doesn’t do the cattle drive every year, was very exciting for us,” OCC Foundation Executive Director Doug Bennett said. “We’re happy to stage the cattle and ready to raise some money for scholarships.”
The fair held its last cattle drive seven years ago. OCC will house the livestock in the gated area Aug. 6 through 9.
The event will include dinner and cocktails and will run from 6 to 10 p.m. Aug. 7 in the Adams Avenue Parking Lot at OCC. Tickets are $75. For more information, call (714) 432-5707.
