Irvine police said they arrested a burglary suspect after an off-duty detective saw him entering a locker room.

Officials said they already suspected Rory Scott Campbell, 27, of Newport Beach when the detective saw him enter The Rinks inline skating facility on Barranca Parkway in Irvine at about 8:45 p.m. Thursday.

“Campbell was a suspect for several other burglaries that had occurred at the same location over the past several weeks,” police said in a news release.

The detective called on-duty officers, who detained Campbell as he left the facility, according to authorities.

Police said Campbell had an iPhone that they allege he had just stolen from the locker room.

They said they also found clothes in his car that matched those worn by a burglar in earlier crimes.

Police asked that anyone with information call Det. Kristi Valentine at (949) 724-7188.
