Girl Scout camp cook arrested in Irvine rape case
Police Thursday said they’d arrested a Girl Scout camp cook suspected of attacking and raping his girlfriend in Irvine last year.
Marin County sheriff’s deputies helped Irvine police arrest Matthew Joseph Hamm, 27, according to police.
He was working at the camp near the city of Fairfax but living in separate staff quarters, police said.
Police said that in April 2014, Hamm was dating a woman whom he physically and sexually assaulted at least once.
Marin County authorities had booked Hamm on charges of rape, assault, and domestic violence. He was being transported Thursday to be booked in Orange County jail, police said.
Police asked anyone with information on the case or anyone who thinks they may be a victim of Hamm to contact IPD Det. Sarah Tunnicliffe at (949) 724-7170.
