Irvine students win business plan competition

A team of students from Irvine high schools won the $1,000 top prize in a business plan competition during Concordia University Irvine’s fourth annual Teen Entrepreneur Academy from July 12 to 18.

Team ENESi, consisting of students Tony Hsu and Natasha Takahashi from Woodbridge High School and Katherine Wong from Beckman High, took first place by designing a plan to create a medicated adhesive patch for patients with coronary artery disease.

Concordia’s School of Business hosted more than 100 students during the academy, in which more than 30 local business owners and entrepreneurs volunteered to coach the teenagers on business ethics, sales principles and marketing strategies.

In the business plan competition, students split into small teams and presented sales pitches to a judging panel of entrepreneurs and business executives.
