Orange County community leaders, volunteers, breast cancer survivors and others donned pink superhero capes Wednesday on the steps of the Pacific Life Insurance Co. building at Fashion Island in Newport Beach to support the upcoming Susan G. Komen Orange County Race for the Cure to help fight breast cancer.

WWE wrestling ring announcer Lilian Garcia, whose mother is a breast cancer survivor, joined the kickoff event to encourage registration for the 24th annual Race for the Cure, scheduled for Sept. 27. The fundraiser will offer two 5K races and a kids’ 1-mile Fun Run & Walk, beginning at Pacific Life.
