Bomb squad finds no explosives in package outside Costa Mesa police substation
A bomb squad responded to a report of a suspicious package outside a Costa Mesa police substation Sunday morning but quickly determined there were no explosives inside, authorities said.
Officers noticed the item, with a note attached, at about 8 a.m. outside the facility at 576 W. 18th St., across from Lions Park, and called the Orange County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad, Costa Mesa police Lt. Greg Scott said.
The bomb experts determined that the item didn’t contain anything explosive, Scott said. The incident did not cause any evacuations, he said.
Costa Mesa police said that because they are still investigating the case, they would not offer further information.
