Police seek help finding missing Irvine man, 68

Irvine police Friday asked for help in finding a 68-year-old man who has been missing since Wednesday.

Irvine resident Lee Howard Whittenberg reportedly was last seen leaving his home at about 8:45 a.m., according to police.

Authorities did not specify where Whittenberg lives but said he sometimes takes walks along Hicks Canyon Bike Trail, the Portola Side Path Trail and Portola Parkway and near Northwood High School.

Whittenberg is white, about 6-foot-3-inches tall, weighs 175 pounds and has gray hair and hazel eyes, police said.

He was wearing a black T-shirt, dark brown cargo shorts, brown slip-on tennis shoes and a black baseball cap with a white logo.

Authorities said that to their knowledge, Whittenberg does not have access to a vehicle, a cellphone, a credit card or cash.
