Police are trying to identify a man who robbed a bank branch inside an Irvine grocery store last week.

Around 7 p.m. Wednesday, the suspect walked into a U.S. Bank in a Ralphs in the 5300 block of Alton Parkway, police said in a news release.

While the branch was getting ready to close, the man showed a teller a note demanding cash. The suspect didn’t display a weapon during the heist, police said.

Afterward, the robber fled to a 2008 Chrysler 300 parked outside. Someone else was waiting inside and drove off with the suspect when he arrived, according to authorities.

Police described the robber as about 6 feet tall, 200 pounds, with black hair and a oatee. Police said he had a medium complexion.

The suspect may also speak with a slight accent, according to authorities.

He wore gloves, a dark hat, dark glasses, a blue wind breaker, jeans, black sneakers, a black bandanna with white printing and a lanyard with a card holder around his neck, police said.

The getaway vehicle had heavily tinted windows, chrome wheels, silver rims and no front license plate, according to authorities.

A description of the driver was not available.

Police asked anyone with information to call Det. Karie Davies at (949) 724-7131.
