Body found at Irvine construction site identified as Santa Ana man, 19
Irvine police Saturday identified a man who was found dead at a remote construction site a day earlier as a 19-year-old resident of Santa Ana.
Octavio Jesus Alcala’s death is being investigated as a homicide, police said.
Workers at the construction site near Wolf Trail and Orchard Hills found Alcala’s body around 6 a.m. Friday, police said.
“The victim was located face down in a remote, graded construction area that does not have any buildings,” Irvine police spokeswoman Farrah Emami said in an email.
Police responded after the workers called 911, Emami said
It’s unclear how long Alcala’s body was in the area or how long he had been dead.
Authorities said they’re still working to determine the cause of death and to piece together the circumstances of the case.
Police asked that anyone with information call Det. Sarah Tunnicliffe at (949) 724-7170.
