Community is invited to Victoria Elementary School’s 50th anniversary
Victoria Elementary School will host a 50th anniversary Jubilee at 4:30 p.m. Friday on the campus.
Guest speakers will talk about the school’s history while a timeline of photos and other times link back to its opening in 1964.
“I feel honored and privileged to be a part of this unique setting, especially in 21st century education where schools can feel big and impersonal,” Principal Aaron Peralta said. “Victoria is part of a close-knit community. We’re the Norman Rockwell school of the 21st century.”
The Victoria Elementary PTA has worked on the event since February. Members searched the community to find first-person sources for the school’s history. The timeline will be set up in the school’s Multi-Purpose Room.
“What we want to capture is a way to walk through Victoria’s past to its present,” Peralta said.
Guest speakers will be former Victoria Principals Ken Killian, Judy Laakfo and Linda Tenno.
The Jubilee will be free and open to the community. The campus is at 1025 Victoria St., Costa Mesa.
